Italo Ferrante (he/him) is a queer poet who earned a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Warwick. To date, his work has been selected for publication by Poetry Salzburg, Impossible Archetype, Cardiff Review, Sage Cigarettes, Inflections Magazine, Lighthouse, and Orchard Lea Press. Recently, his poem "Ode to Abruzzo" has been shortlisted for the Oxford Brookes' International Poetry Competition (2022).
What was your favorite book as a child?
My favourite book as a child was The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, which was the reason why I moved to the UK to study English literature and creative writing.
What was the original reason or motivation why you started writing creatively?
I started writing creatively because I am tone-deaf and allergic to crowds.
What was the most adventurous or thrilling thing you ever did/experienced?
The most thrilling thing I have ever experienced was being shortlisted in the Oxford Brookes’ International Poetry Competition (2022).
Do you listen to music while reading or writing?
No, the only music I have to listen to is my mind-voice reading acapella.
